Anti-Ragging

The Anti-Ragging Committee is committed to ensure safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment. The committee, consisting of faculty members, administrators, and student representatives, actively works to prevent and address incidents of ragging through awareness initiatives, counselling services, and the strict implementation of anti-ragging policies.

Adhering to UGC guidelines and legal requirements, the committee conducts regular inspections and provides an accessible platform for students to report any grievances. By fostering a culture of mutual respect and responsibility, the Anti-Ragging Committee upholds the college’s core values of harmony, discipline, and academic excellence.

Measures to Curb Ragging – Institutional-Level Disciplinary Actions

In line with the institution’s commitment to maintaining a safe and conducive academic environment, the following penalties may be imposed on individuals found guilty of ragging, depending on the severity and nature of the offense, as assessed by the Anti-Ragging Committee:

  1. Revocation of Academic Rights and Attendance Privileges

Suspension or restriction of academic rights, including the withdrawal of attendance privileges.

  1. Withholding of Scholarships, Fellowships, and Financial Assistance

The institution reserves the right to revoke or suspend any financial aid, including scholarships, fellowships, or other student benefits.

  1. Restriction from Participation in Examinations and Evaluations

Affected individuals may be prohibited from appearing in examinations, tests, or any form of academic evaluation, subject to the gravity of the offense.

  1. Retention of Academic Results

The institution may withhold the publication of academic results or delay the issuance of transcripts until the matter is resolved.

  1. Exclusion from Representing the Institution in Official Events

Students found guilty of ragging may be prohibited from representing the institution in any youth festivals, competitions, seminars, or other academic or cultural events at the local, national, or international level.

  1. Suspension or Expulsion from Hostel Facilities

The student may face removal from hostel accommodations or be suspended from using hostel facilities for a defined period.

  1. Cancellation of Admission

In cases of serious offenses, the institution may revoke the student’s admission entirely.

  1. Temporary Suspension from the Institution

The institution may impose a temporary suspension on the student, ranging from one to four semesters, depending on the circumstances of the case.

  1. Expulsion from the Institution

In extreme cases, the student may be permanently expelled from the institution, along with a temporary bar on seeking re-admission to any other educational institution.

  1. Imposition of Fines

Financial penalties may be levied, with fines ranging from ₹25,000 to ₹1 lakh, as deemed appropriate based on the severity of the offense.

  1. Collective Responsibility and Punishment

If the individuals responsible for ragging or abetting the offense cannot be identified, collective punishment may be imposed on the group involved, ensuring accountability for all.

These disciplinary measures aim to uphold the institution’s standards of conduct, ensuring that a safe, respectful, and academically focused environment is preserved for all students. The institution remains committed to addressing incidents of ragging with the utmost seriousness and ensuring that appropriate action is taken to prevent any such occurrences.

 

 

The institution is committed to addressing grievances related to ragging in a fair, transparent, and timely manner. Below is the Grievance Redressal Mechanism designed to provide an effective and responsive process for handling complaints related to ragging:

  1. Filing a Complaint:

Any student or staff member who experiences or witnesses ragging can file a grievance through the following methods:

  • Online Complaint Form:
    • Accessible via the institution’s official website under the “Anti-Ragging” section.
    • The form allows students to submit details of the incident, including the date, time, location, and involved individuals.
    • Option for anonymous reporting is available for those who wish to protect their identity.
  • Email Reporting:
    • Complaints can be submitted via email to [email protected].
    • The email should contain detailed information regarding the incident, including any witnesses or evidence.
  • Direct Contact:
    • Students may also approach the designated Anti-Ragging Committee members in person or via phone.
    • Contact information of committee members will be provided on the anti-ragging webpage and notice boards across the campus.
  • Complaint Box:
    • A complaint box will be placed at prominent locations around the campus for physical submission of complaints. The box will be checked regularly by committee members.
  1. Acknowledgement of Complaint:
  • Once a complaint is received, the Anti-Ragging Committee will acknowledge the receipt within 24 hours, ensuring that the complainant is informed about the next steps in the grievance redressal process.
  • The complainant will be assigned a unique case number for reference and follow-up.
  1. Preliminary Investigation:
  • The committee will conduct a preliminary investigation within 48 hours to verify the authenticity of the complaint.
  • If necessary, the committee will interview the complainant, witnesses, and those accused of ragging.
  • During the investigation, the privacy and confidentiality of all parties involved will be strictly maintained.
  1. Resolution of the Grievance:
  • Following the investigation, the committee will determine whether ragging occurred and the appropriate course of action.
  • Depending on the severity of the case, the actions could include:
    • Counselling sessions for the accused.
    • Disciplinary actions, such as fines, suspension, or expulsion.
    • Reconciliation between the involved parties, if appropriate.
  • In cases where the complaint is found to be false or malicious, appropriate action may also be taken against the complainant to prevent misuse of the grievance system.
  1. Timeframe for Resolution:
  • The committee aims to resolve all complaints within 15 to 30 working days from the date of receipt of the complaint.
  • In exceptional cases, where further investigation is required, the timeline may extend, but the complainant will be informed of the delay and given regular updates.
  1. Protection Against Retaliation:
  • The institution ensures that no student or staff member will face retaliation or discrimination for filing a grievance or participating in the grievance process.
  • Any act of retaliation will be treated as a separate offense and will be subject to strict disciplinary actions.
  1. Record Keeping and Transparency:
  • All grievance-related documents, investigation findings, and decisions will be securely maintained for reference and auditing purposes.
  • The institution will regularly publish anonymized reports on the outcomes of grievances and actions taken to maintain transparency.
